Our goal is to have fun with our dogs while building a bond of "Trust & Respect" between dog and handler as well as promoting responsible dog ownership through Dog Sports.
We support equally our members who are just having fun with their dogs and the members who are itching to compete. We have all ages, sizes and shapes of dogs and handlers. All dogs are eligible as long as they are healthy; our oldest canine is 14 years old, our biggest is a great Dane and our smallest is a Yorkshire Terrier X.
Our members have one thing in common - they all have dogs and a need and love to do things with their dogs. This teamwork gives both dog and handler a real self-esteem boost, as well as both mental and physical benefits.
The Club is affiliated with the Agility Association of Canada (AAC) We do demos of agility on request -- free for charities and for a small honorarium for others; we make annual appearances at local events and fairs. See our Coming Events for our next appearance.
New members are always welcome. Their dogs must be at least one year of age and have taken at least one of the Island Dog Sports' training courses, or have been trained in Agility elsewhere. Handlers and dogs that meet these criteria may apply to become members of Island Dog Sports Agility Club. Prospective members should contact the info@islanddogsports.com coordinator and arrange to attend a practice session in order to demonstrate their training.
